Madeira Wine Company - São Francisco Wine Lodge

For those who take pleasure in tasting a fine wine, the São Francisco Wine Lodge is well worth a visit. It is housed in what is left of the old Franciscan convent in Funchal which was completely tore down in the 19th century. There is an interesting exhibition, a wine tasting room and a shop. Visitors learn the story of Madeira Wine from vineyards to the grape varieties - Sercial, Malvasia,Verdelho and Boal.
