An enjoyable leisure area set in the heart of Funchal in the same spot where once stood the Convento de São Francisco.

Tropical and subtropical species are predominant in this garden, some with brightly coloured flowers that bloom all year.

Also worth a stop are the statues of São Francisco de Assis and the busts of João Fernandes Vieira, of the writer João Reis Gomes and of Simon Bolivar.
