MUDAS. Contemporary Art Museum

The museum started its collection with the works purchased at the time of the city of Funchal Prize in 1966 and 1967.

At first, it was housed at Direcção Regional dos Assuntos Culturais. It was then transferred to Quinta Magnólia, then to Forte de São Tiago and to its current home Casa das Mudas - Calheta.

The museum’s collection of Portuguese contemporary art includes works by some of the major Portuguese artists from the 1960’s to the present day and includes pieces by artists that have come to Madeira to develop their work.
