Frederico de Freitas Museum House

It is housed in Casa da Calçada, home to Condes da Calçada from the 17th century onwards an then from the 1940’s, to Dr. Frederico de Freitas, who lived there until his death in 1978.

This well-known lawyer and solicitor, a champion of our heritage and of our culture donated all his collections to the Autonomous Region of Madeira which eventually purchased the building and created Casa-Museu Frederico de Freitas.

Some of its most relevant collections include Engraving, an «Azulejo» tile collection, Ceramics, Sculpture and Furniture.
